CAL Fire Safety Fair – Los Osos – Saturday, October 12, 2019

Cal Fire Station 15 is hosting their annual Fire Safety Fair this Saturday, October 12th in the Grocery Outlet parking lot from 11am-3pm.

We’ll be there serving up our award winning family recipe all beef hot dogs, gourmet sausages, handcrafted burgers and more!  We have the honor of serving the staff and volunteers of the event sponsored by Cal Fire Station 15.

Take a tour of Medic Fire Engine 15, a CAL FIRE dozer and other department vehicles. Meet the staff from CAL FIRE/Station 15 – South Bay, as well as SLO Ambulance, SLO Sheriff’s Department, Red Cross, and several other emergency services organizations. Make friends with Sparky the Fire Dog and Smokey Bear, assist the firefighters with a Teddy Bear Cliff Rescue.

Firefighters will be offering demonstrations in vehicle stabilization, Lifting Airbag Device, “Jaws of Life” and Extinguisher Flash Pan, as well as free training in Hands-Only CPR. Your child can learn the technique of “Stop, Drop, Cover Your Face and Roll” and learn life-saving strategies as they practice Fire Safety & Emergency Evacuation in the Home using the SLO County Fire Chief’s Association Fire Safe House.

All this and much more! Don’t miss out on great fun and valuable life-saving techniques for your home and family.

This year’s Fire Safety Fair will have a special mission, raising money for a young Los Osos girl who was severely burned when she stepped into a hidden bonfire pit while visiting Montana De Oro State Park with her family in July. Four-year-old Alivia Gonzales suffered severe injuries, she faces a long road to recovery with many financial burdens placed upon her family. The South Bay Fire Department will be contributing all of the money raised from the Fire Safety Fair’s bake sale and silent auction to the Gonzales family in Alivia’s name.

The department will also be taking donations during the Fire Safety Fair with a “Fill The Boot” being available all day. If you’re unable to attend the event but would like to make a donation to young Alivia Gonzales, please drop off any monetary donations to the fire station located at 2315 Bayview Heights in Los Osos.

The fair is held every October and is hosted by the reserve firefighters from Station 15 – South Bay who serve the communities of Los Osos and Baywood.
